External Training

With the External Training feature, PD Place helps staff track all of their professional development and training, including those hosted outside of the workplace. This allows staff to provide their organization with a complete picture of their ongoing and completed activities. This feature also allows administrators to track and manage tuition and fee reimbursement for staff as they can submit expenses right within the system.

Resources Library

PD Place allows for resources such as Video Files, Audio Files, URLs, Word documents, PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, to be available to users on-demand. Resources are available for users to review when it’s convenient for them or as part of an orientation process. Additionally resources can be set as “private” so outside registrants do not have access to them. Administrators can also link resources to a specific course as prerequisite reading materials.

Automated Communication

PD Place streamlines communication for administrators and users with its built-in automatic email feature. Users are automatically sent registration confirmations, event change and cancellation notifications, wait-list notifications and more. Administrators also have the ability to notify groups of upcoming professional development opportunities based on interest or area of discipline. Users can send custom emails to instructors and administration for quick and easy communication, right within the system.

Budgets and Funding Allocations

Tracking resource/event expenses and funding allocations is made easy in PD Place. Manage budgets for external training and in-services by monitoring reimbursement and supply expenses. Allocate dollars to individual staff members for external training programs and PD Place will compare allowances against overall budgets to ensure maximums are never exceeded.

PD Place Qualifications Screen

Qualifications

PD Place has a built-in Qualifications module for tracking of recurrent certifications that must be completed within a specific amount of time.  Specific rules can be set up to apply to groups of individuals within your organization.  Such rules specify the credits or credit hours required and the renewal period.

Users are able to register for courses in PD Place to complete their qualification requirements, and can track their progress in the system.  As well, PD Place sends out reminders when a qualification is close to expiry.

PD Place Conferences Screen

Internal Conferences

For organization-wide professional development days and other large training events, Internal Conferences gives you the flexibility you need. Users can register for a conference, select their sessions, and print their session list. Administrators can specify that users must register for a minimum number of sessions, indicate which sessions are mandatory, and track attendance.

PD Place Registration Restrictions Screen

Registration Restrictions

Unique Registration Restrictions may be applied to each individual in-service. This gives you the ability to limit, for example, how many users from a specific location may register for the in-service. Or, you may wish to limit the number of registrants from a specific employee group. You can even choose to block registrations for specific groups or locations. These are just a few examples – registration restrictions allow you to specify any number of rules and apply them to any particular in-service.

PD Place Approvals Screen

In-Service Approvals

PD Place allows for in-services to be specified as requiring supervisor approval. When a user requests registration in such an in-service, an email is sent to his or her supervisor. Supervisors can approve or decline these requests by clicking a link in their email, or by logging into the system to view their approval lists.
